„Pradėk nuo savęs” (English title: „Start with yourself”) – social project of informal education, dedicated to the students / future artists, with the aim of support their respect for intelectual property and nonacceptance of it's unauthorised use.
Within the framework of the project, educational seminars were organized in 20 educational institutions in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda and Elektrėnai from December 2016 to September 2019. During them, LMVA members – managers of the most popular Lithuanian music groups, concert organizers, together with intellectual property law specialists – representatives of the organizations AGATA, LATGA, AVAKA, and the Intellectual Property Protection Center – discussed the issues of illegal use of copyrighted content with schoolchildren and students.
Main platforms for the legal use of intellectual property:
Music: There are over 400 legal online music platforms operating in the world. The most popular in Lithuania are: Spotify, Youtube, Pakartot, iTunes, Soundcloud, Apple Music, Tidal, Bandcamp, Deezer.
Cinema/TV: Netflix, ŽMONĖS Cinema, LRT mediateka, LNK GO, Telia, Youtube, kinofondas.lt, CinemaClub.eu, filmai.tv3.lt, Viaplay, mubi.com, Bfi.org.uk, Megogo.net, Vimeo Staff Picks.
Literature: knygos.lt, knygute.lt, pegasas.lt, baltoslankos.lt, vaga.lt, rsleidykla.lt, PEOPLE Books, Amazon, Google Books, iBooks.
How to distinguish whether content is legal or illegal? Content is likely illegal if:
- it is too new to be legally available;
- poor video and/or sound quality, noticeable distortion;
- too good to be true;
- suspicious offer: a request to pay a certain (e.g. annual) fee without any additional details or contractual terms;
- The place of business, address, etc. are not specified.
